On June 12, IAB submitted public comments to the Office of the United States Trade Representative in response to a request for comments on the “Negotiating Objectives Regarding Modernization of North American Free Trade Agreement with Canada and Mexico”.
IAB’s comments highlight the significant changes that have taken place within the digital advertising industry since the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) was signed into law in 1993. We recommend that a modernized free trade agreement better ensure the continued growth of the industry by ensuring the free flow of information across national borders and prohibiting national treatment and market access exemptions for non-local publisher content.
