Membership Dues
All dues are for a calendar year of membership. Dues are not subject to negotiation and may not be included in any form of barter arrangement.
For New Members
General Membership Dues. Dues for general members are a percentage of total U.S. domestic digital revenue for a two-year trailing calendar year. Digital revenue is applied to above rate card to calculate annual dues.
Digital revenue is defined as any revenue associated with digital products, services, advertising, marketing programs or campaigns. No costs may be subtracted from the total revenue figure for the purpose of the calculation of net revenues, including but not limited to taxes, staff costs, expenses, or customer/audience acquisition costs. This includes any digital revenues paid to the company minus any fees paid out to content partners.
New members must report their previous calendar year’s revenues to the IAB in order to facilitate billing of the following year’s dues. Minimum IAB dues for general members shall be $10,000 if your (rounded) revenue is under $7 million. All revenue is rounded to the nearest million before any calculations are applied.
Associate Membership Dues. Dues for associate members are $10,000.
Startup Membership Dues. Dues for startup members are $5,000. Startup membership status is limited to a maximum of two calendar years and at the end of that period, membership will convert to general or associate status based on the company’s business classification.
For Companies Who Were Members in 2019
General Membership Dues. Dues for all general members who have historically reported revenue as of 2019 will be frozen at the 2019 rate and are subject to a 3% increase each year thereafter starting in 2020.
2022 dues for general members who have not historically reported revenue as of 2019, have negotiated dues, or have reported incorrect revenue will increase by 12.2%, the industry growth rate between 2019 and 2020, or to $450,000, whichever is less. Once these members have reached $450,000 in dues they are subject to a 3% increase each year thereafter.
In the event a member’s revenue decreases, members can request their dues be reassessed by rereporting their revenue. Revenue will be vetted against our industry source and, if approved, reassessed according to the rate card. A 3% increase will be applied each year thereafter.
Associate Membership Dues. Dues for associate members are $10,000 + 3%.
Startup Membership Dues. Dues for startup members are $5,000 + 3%. Startup membership status is limited to a maximum of two calendar years and at the end of that period, membership will convert to general or associate status based on the company’s business classification.
Consideration for Extraordinary Events
In the event two members both paying $450,000 or more in membership dues merge, a 50% discount will be applied to one company’s dues. A 3% increase will be applied each year thereafter.
For mergers where at least one member company pays less than $450,000 in dues, membership dues will be combined to set a new base. A 3% increase will be applied each year thereafter.
If an acquired company or division was not a part of the member company two years previously, its own digital revenues from two years prior count towards any dues calculation as that company/division gets IAB benefits today.
If a company or division has been divested, but was still a part of the member company two years previously, its digital revenues from two years prior are removed from the total for any dues calculation.
IAB reserves the right to reassess dues and make adjustments where appropriate in case of extraordinary events or any significant news affecting IAB members or the industry.
IAB will reassess our members every three years to ensure all members are paying fair value.
