On May 24, 2017, IAB and IAB Europe sent a letter to Commissioner Věra Jourová and Secretary Wilbur Ross expressing support for the Privacy Shield Framework. The letter highlights the importance of transatlantic data transfers to the digital advertising supply chain.
Approved in July 2016, the U.S.-EU Privacy Shield enables certified U.S. companies to transfer data of EU citizens to the United States in accordance with EU law. More than 2,000 companies, including many IAB member companies, have self-certified to the Framework.
In September 2017, the Privacy Shield Framework will undergo its first annual review by EU and U.S. authorities.
