Wireless Advertising Association (WAA) General Membership Meeting to be Held January 25, in San Francisco

New York, NY – January 10, 2001 — The Wireless Advertising Association (WAA) will hold its first general meeting of the year in San Francisco on January 25, at the Nikko Hotel. The San Francisco meeting kicks off an ambitious schedule of general meetings, membership meetings and numerous presentations that the WAA will make at conferences and trade shows around the world in the first half of the year.

“Over the course of the first half of the year, the Wireless Advertising Association will be present at meetings and conferences throughout the United States and Europe, and we intend to be visible in Latin America and Asia later in the year,” noted WAA Chairman Tim DePriest. “We are fortunate that the growing interest in the wireless platform as an important advertising vehicle has continued to grow, and that our member companies realize the importance of the WAA’s goals for the global business, not simply their home territories.”

Exemplifying this global outlook of the WAA’s activities, the January 25 meeting will host Mr. Akihisa Fujita, President & CEO of D2 Communications, a division of Dentsu. Mr. Fujita will present a situation analysis of the current state of wireless in Japan as well as a future forecast for wireless advertising. Part of his presentation will be a recap of data from D2 Communications 20 million subscribers of wireless Internet services for the past six months.

The morning session of the meeting will be devoted to Mr. Fujita’s’s remarks as well as and FTC update from Mr. DePriest, a briefing on WAA International activities and a review of upcoming events and meetings.

The meeting is open to WAA members ($75) and non-members ($150).
