IAB Commends the Launch of the Congressional Digital Trade Caucus

On May 1, 2017, Dave Grimaldi, Executive Vice President for IAB, issued the following statement in response to the launch of the congressional Digital Trade Caucus.

“As the global leader in digital innovation, the United States stands to benefit significantly from policies that encourage digital trade and enable U.S. businesses to serve a global audience.

IAB research has shown that the advertising-supported internet economy supports over $1 trillion in U.S. GDP and more than 10 million jobs spread across every congressional district. This significant economic contribution is only possible when businesses are able to offer their services to the 92 percent of internet users and 95 percent of consumers residing outside of the United States.

The launch of the Digital Trade Caucus will help ensure U.S. policies reflect the needs of the 21st-century economy by serving as an important venue for promoting cross-border data flows, eliminating data localization requirements, and addressing other impediments to digital commerce.

We thank Representatives Suzan DelBene and Erik Paulsen for the launch of the Digital Trade Caucus and look forward to working with all members to ensure the continued growth of the digital economy.”
