IAB Statement on the Passage of AB 375 in California

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), today issued the following statement in response to the passage of AB 375 in California:

“We share the goal of making the ad-supported internet the experience consumers desire – quality content and experiences with robust notice, transparency, and choice.  While the new law is preferable to a privacy initiative riddled with problems, we are disappointed that the most sweeping privacy legislation in the country was passed with little debate and opportunity for consumer, advocate, or industry input.  We hope to have the opportunity to work with the legislature in the coming months to amend the legislation in a manner that is beneficial for both consumers and industry alike.”
