A Unique Event Designed Specifically for the Small Publisher

Learn, Network & Represent Online Entrepreneurs in Front of Congress

Each year since 2009, IAB has brought small, online publishers to the nation’s capital.

Small publishers have joined IAB to network, learn about industry best practices and meet with members of the U.S. Congress and their staffs. This team has spoken with their representatives to give a fuller understanding of the challenges facing online entrepreneurs and the impact that legislation and regulations may have on their businesses.

Since most of these smaller digital companies are dependent on advertising revenue, the policies that impact digital advertising have a direct link to their livelihoods. By convening members of IAB’s Long Tail Alliance, the IAB has shown policymakers the real difference that these small businesses are making in the field.

At the event, attendees engage in learning sessions designed specifically for the small publisher, take part in unique networking opportunities, and are given a direct platform to express to legislators, the challenges, concerns and impact that adverse legislation and regulation may have on their businesses.

Why Do I Want to Talk to Congress? Political campaigns have been launched that seek government regulation of many of the core processes and technologies that support interactive advertising.

The IAB believes small publishers, whose advertising sales are largely or entirely managed by ad networks, would be disproportionately impacted by this type of regulation. This would affect advertising revenue and potentially diminish the diversity of voices and ideas across the diverse digital commerce landscape.

The IAB feels it’s vital that politicians understand that ad-supported publishers exist everywhere in the U.S., and by coming to Washington with us, you are playing a critical role in conveying the deep economic value and impact of interactive advertising.

How Much Does It Cost? There is no cost to attend the event for small publishers, courtesy of IAB.
