IAB Files Comments with FTC on Informational Injury

Self-Regulation

Today the Interactive Advertising Bureau and five other industry trade associations filed joint comments on the Federal Trade Commission’s “Informational Injury Workshop.”

The comments highlight the success of the existing legal framework of sectoral laws that address specific areas where Congress has identified a potential for consume injury, and underline the added protections provided by self-regulatory codes of conduct such as the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA).

The filing goes on to urge the FTC to maintain concrete injury as the cornerstone of the FTC’s privacy and data security enforcement regime and to work with industry to provide the right balance of promoting innovation and addressing privacy considerations.

The FTC Information Injury Workshop will take place on December 12, 2017.
