Advertisers of New York: Noah Porter, 360i

As part of the 2019 NewFronts in New York City, IAB is highlighting the decision makers, shakers, and movers having an impact in the digital advertising and media industry. Read about Noah Porter, Senior Director of Programmatic at 360i:

Monetizing a Passion

A friend in college was making money selling ads on his website. That piqued my interest because I was always kind of a techie person. So I was like, oh, this would be a cool way to make money and also to focus on my passion, which was music.

My First Lesson in Scale

My site was not successful but it was my first entry and it had a cascading effect. That is where I learned the need to have scale and to have more of a marketing face than just the technical chops.

The Sell Generation

I feel like everyone was constantly selling you something in the ‘80s. First in the He Man and Voltron toy era, then in the Tommy Hilfiger, Gap and Old Navy days of high school.

Selling vs. Feeling

The Budweiser Clydesdale ads had a big impact on me later on from the standpoint of, it made me feel something instead of just trying to sell me something.

A Convergence

Technology and marketing are coming together in a way that I think many of us saw happening, but it does seem like we hit a stagnation point. That is evolving and changing now; there is more research and data coming from the digital space, as well as what’s happening between digital and TV.

New to NewFronts

This will be my first NewFronts and I’m anticipating hearing the traditional viewpoints and more importantly, the rabble-rousers; the thought provoking people who will break through the noise. I’m interested to see who has new ideas, and who is willing to push buttons even if it is not technically a new idea.

The Water’s Edge

I like the piers; the areas where the Frying Pan Lightship docks and where the running track is on the East River. Basically anyplace where I can see, hear and smell the water.

Unwinding After Work

There are plenty of places to work in New York and plenty of places to go afterwards to unwind. A new favorite is Au Cheval, which is a couple of blocks from my office. Good atmosphere, good music, and definitely one of the top three burgers I’ve had in my entire life. It is new, but it is also quintessential New York.
